Junior Designer

Matter Unlimited is a unique social impact creative agency looking for an amazing Account Management & Strategy intern to join their team for the Summer of 2017. This candidate needs to have a deep passion for the social impact space, marketing & advertising and want to be a part of making things that matter. This person should be a self-starter, highly motivated and curious. They will work in a highly collaborative environment on a mix of non-for-profit and corporate clients who seek to make positive change in the world.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Agency admin tasks (ex. status document updating, meeting scheduling, proofreading, meeting wrap-up reports, note-taking)

  • Sourcing & managing social media content for the Matter Unlimited brand

  • Assist and support team throughout campaign development and production

  • Keep the team on track by being aware of daily and weekly schedules and responsibilities

  • Attend team brainstorms

  • Assist with strategic research (ex. competitive landscape research)

  • Help prepare presentation materials and meeting spaces

  • Leading individual and group internal projects

  • Someone who is a creative and organized individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Someone who track multiple projects from beginning to end and hold themselves accountable by managing their time efficiently

Matter Unlimited is a unique social impact ad agency looking for an amazing design intern to join their team.

You’ll be collaborating and working directly with the creative director and lead designer, as well as the rest of the team within a small agency. That means lots of hands-on projects and ownership of assignments. You’ll be doing everything from concepting new ideas for big campaigns, to redesigning client logos, to building presentations.

Previous interns have created logos for White House Initiatives, posters for non-profits and helped concept pitch presentations. We’re looking for a smart designer with a great attitude willing to learn new things, bring solutions, and get excited to come to work everyday to do meaningful creative work.

About You

  • Digital savvy with experience in graphic and web design.
  • An online portfolio of work that shows insightful, cross-media ideas, and well-executed design.
  • A desire to change the world and use design to do Good.

You should be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote and Google Slides; proficient in strategic thinking and concepting big ideas in any medium (film, print, web, experiential, apps, etc); comfortable presenting your own work and doing some writing (social media, explanations of your ideas, etc); a good grasp of typography and best practices for web design and UX.

Matter Unlimited is looking for an integrated designer who wants to make things matter. You’ll be within a small team, collaborating and working directly with the creative director. Depending on the client, you’ll be doing everything from concepting ideas, collaborating with production teams and designing brand identities. We need a smart designer with an eye for sophisticated design who is comfortable designing and creating across a variety of different kinds of media. This is a full-time salaried position in our NYC office.

Success In This Role

A successful designer will be digitally savvy and a multi-tasker with the ability and appetite to work on a broad range of briefs and tasks. From web designs to elevating creative presentations, campaign concepting to new identity exploration for brands. You’ll be successful here if you’re someone with good energy who wants the opportunity to join a growing team, learn new skills, and design big ideas for brands to drive positive social change.

Need to Have

You should be fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite. You have 1-3 years experience in internship or professional settings. Don’t have the experience, but think your work is up to par? Still apply. Sometimes we make exceptions for exceptional designers.

You should present a portfolio that shows:

  • A meticulous eye for detail in typography, composition and communication
  • An understanding of branding, identity and design fundamentals
  • Breadth of ideation across media and clients (with digital at the core)
  • Conceptual thinking and problem solving through design
  • Sophisticated and refined design style
  • Side projects. We love to see a creative who is passionate about something and uses design to make a statement.

Nice to Have

  • A passion for using design to do good and make things matter
  • A BA or BFA in graphic design, communication design or a related field
  • Writing skills--everything from a tweet to a description of an idea or explanation of a strategy.
  • Curiosity about coding, UX and UI
